SENIOR ECOLOGIST - DUBLIN
JOB DESCRIPTION
Our client is an award-winning international engineering consultancy,
currently undergoing rapid growth.
You will work in an integrated team of ecologists, environmental
scientists, planners and engineers
leading our ecology team alongside another senior ecologist
working on the ecological and biodiversity aspects of plans and
projects
assisting in the assessment and delivery of a range of projects,
including rail schemes, roads, greenways, buildings and bridges
working in an integrated team of ecologists, environmental scientists,
hydrologists, hydrogeologists, planners and engineers
Your areas of focus will include:
undertaking field surveys
technical reporting (Ecological Impact Assessments and Appropriate
Assessment)
research projects
tendering
consulting with stakeholders and prescribed bodies
overseeing the implementation of mitigation measures and ecological
enhancements
mentoring junior staff
REQUIREMENTS
Degree in ecology or a related biological/environmental science
subject with an ecological component (Level 8 qualification in the
National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent)
Five to ten years’ experience in ecological/planning consultancy
Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental
Management (CIEEM) or equivalent
Chartered environmentalist or ecologist or working towards chartership
Familiarity with relevant Irish and European legislation e.g. Habitats
Directive, Birds Directive, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
Directive, Birds and Natural Habitats Regulations
Experience in preparing Appropriate Assessment Screening Reports,
Natura Impact Statements, Environmental Impact Assessment Report
(EIAR) Biodiversity Chapters and Ecological Impact Assessments
Field survey experience in ecology e.g. habitat classification
(Fossitt), badger, otter, bat, bird and invasive species surveys
Experience of leading and mentoring junior staff
Excellent report writing skills
Experience of reviewing project deliverables
Working knowledge of GIS
Client focused, with good interpersonal skills and a team approach
Excellent communication and IT skills, with the ability to record data
efficiently and methodically
Full clean driving licence
Fluency/high level of proficiency in spoken and written English
Desirable
Expert witness experience
Experience in preparation of fee proposals and tenders
